About the role
This is a hands-on flying role for a senior operator who already lives on the sticks. You'll plan and execute autonomous missions on Skydio X10 and X2 platforms across ISR, infrastructure inspection, and public-safety customers — both at our home base and on-site at customer locations.
You're the technical lead on every flight you're on: airspace, weather, fleet health, payload, data capture, and post-flight handoff. You'll also mentor junior pilots and help shape how RTTG runs its day-to-day flight ops.
What you'll do
- Plan and execute autonomous flight operations on Skydio platforms for ISR, mapping, and inspection missions.
- Own pre-flight checks, airspace coordination, on-site safety briefings, and post-flight data delivery.
- Travel to customer sites for short-duration engagements and live-event support.
- Mentor and check-ride junior pilots; contribute to our SOPs and training curriculum.
- Partner with the cUAS team on joint exercises and integrated air-picture missions.
What we're looking for
Required
- FAA Part 107 in good standing, ideally with night and BVLOS waivers logged.
- 3+ years of professional UAS flight experience — commercial, public-safety, or defense.
- Demonstrated experience flying Skydio platforms (X10, X2, or Skydio 2+).
- Comfortable owning a mission end-to-end with minimal supervision.
- U.S. citizenship.
Nice to have
- Manned-aircraft pilot certificate (PPL or higher).
- Public-safety, law-enforcement, or fire-service drone-program experience.
- Photogrammetry / mapping software experience (DroneDeploy, Pix4D, similar).
- Prior military, intelligence community, or DoD program background.
Compensation & location
Base salary commensurate with experience and certifications. RTTG offers medical/dental/vision, 401(k), paid time off, recurrency support, and platform training. Primary work location is remote with regular travel to customer sites.
